October 28 – Travel to Visakhapatnam

Today is a travel day.  This afternoon we are flying to central East coast of  India where we will be touring some of the tribal areas. We expect it to be a unique tour,  We were picked up late morning.  The last stop was at Tara’s home where Steve and Valerie left some luggage.  We had time to spare so had a cup of tea before heading to the airport.  Check-in was painfully slow but we eventually finished, headed straight through security and to the gate.  They had almost completed boarding by the time we got there.

Today was mostly spent in airports and in flight. Consequently my photos today were in airports...more interesting than it sounds. Bronze (looking??) elephants in the Delhi airport. An "art display(?)" in the Delhi airport of a bathroom on it's side. Statues of people from the ethnic groups around Visakhapatna, India.

Highlight of the day was some "art" and displays in the airports.

The flight itself was very uneventful and we eventually made it to the airport in Visakhapatnam on the central eastern coast of India.  Visakhapatnam is about half way between Kolkata and Chennai (formerly Madras).  We are visiting ethnic tribes in the hills to the west of Visak.  And we will be quite remote for much of this tour. But it certainly sounds interesting and very different from what we often see on our tours.

Then it was a half hour or so drive to our hotel right on the waterfront.  It was late so we really couldn’t see much.

After dumping our bags, we all met at the hotel restaurant for a nice meal before heading to bed.  Very boring day.
